Pedro Gómez-Romero
ICN2

Pedro Gomez-Romero is currently the leader of the NEO-Energy Group at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) in Spain, where he focuses on advanced energy nanomaterials. His research centers on the design and development of materials and devices for energy storage and conversion, such as batteries, supercapacitors, and supercapattery systems. This includes a wide range of materials, from inorganic compounds like polyoxometalates, oxides, and LiFePO4 to graphene and nanotubes, with a particular emphasis on hybrid nanostructures and nanocomposites that incorporate inorganic clusters or nanoparticles with polymers or carbon. His recent work has concentrated on zinc-based systems, from zinc-ion capacitors and batteries to zinc-air batteries, and redefining energy storage devices through the use of nano-paste electrodes. Recently, he also founded a spin-off company, Napptilus Battery Labs, aimed at leveraging the knowledge generated in the lab to develop fast-charging and long-lasting energy storage devices.
