Yunqi Liu was born in Jiangsu province, China in 1949. He graduated from the Department of Chemistry, Nanjing University in 1975, and received a doctorate from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan in 1991. Presently, he is a Professor in the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. His research interests include design and synthesis of molecular materials, including -conjugated small molecules, polymers, and graphenes, fabrication of related devices, including field-effect transistors and molecular electronics, and investigation of their electronic properties. He has published over 500 peer-reviewed papers with more than 20,000 citations and an h-index greater than 70. He edits one book and also is co-author 19 book chapters and co-inventor on over 60 patents. His achievements have been recognized with several awards, including the 2007 National Natural Prize, and “Highly Cited Researcher” by Thomson Reuters in 2014.
