Abstract
Abstract: Graphene has two different type: one is single or multiple layer graphene thin film, the other is multiple layer graphene microchip. Graphene development can be divided to two stages: 1, producing single or multiple borehole graphene. 2, netting the graphene. Now the development is in the first stage.
• Until now, there are two methods for producing single or multiple borehole graphene:
• ❶Methods like mechanical exfoliation, GO, and CVD have problems in structure control and manufacturing, which limits its application development in chemical, esp. catalytic material. ❷ Manufacturing graphene by synthetic Sic.
• Modification on natural material should be better than synthetic materials, but it’s vital to have an exact research and understanding of the performance. This paper will introduce various types of graphite deposit and minerals, aims to discuss which kind is suitable for producing graphene.
• Types of graphite deposit include sedimentary metamorphic and magmatic hydrothermal, the former is more important. Sedimentary metamorphic can be categorized into three types: deep metamorphic type, shallow metamorphic type and contact metamorphic type. (Table 1)
• Structures of various graphite deposit and minerals are different. Deep metamorphic graphite deposit is mainly coarse flake graphite, with size of 0.05-1mm. Shallow metamorphic graphite deposit is mainly fine and micro flake graphite, with size of 0.02-0.05mm. Contact metamorphic is mainly amorphous graphite, with size of 1um±(Table 2).
• Coarse and micro flake graphite are suitable for producing graphene. However, graphite from different deposit owns different product phase, we should make separate researches for these graphite.
