Title:Large-scale production and applications of three-dimensionally constructed graphene powders
SymposiumB3 Graphene/GO Manufacture Technology

Abstract

Graphene, a two-dimensional carbon sheet, has great potential value of application in many fields due to its unique properties such as high surface area, super high mechanical strength and excellent electronic conductivity. Many approaches have been invented to prepare the 2 D flat graphene. However, 2 D graphene existing in the form of powders is prone to restack into graphite, resulting in the loss of intrinsic properties of graphene. Therefore, developing advanced structure of 2 D graphene is of great importance for practical applications. Herein, we present a novel method of synthesizing catalytically three-dimensionally constructed graphene powders using carbon-containing polymer as carbon sources. The method can be applied readily at low cost and large-scale. The products have hierarchical porous structure with high surface area (>2000 m2/g) and high conductivity (>1500 S/m). The three-dimensionally constructed graphene powders as electrode materials show excellent performance in the practical Li-S battery, Li-ion battery and super capacitors, as additives can significantly reinforce the mechanical strength of plastics and improve the quality of lubricants.
