Dr.Ding obtained his PhD in Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2006. After that he worked as a Research Specialist in Dow Chemical China for more than 2 years, and as an Assistant Researcher in Chang Zhou University for 1 year. Since Sep.of 2009, he works in Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is also the CTO of ShanghaiSIMBATT Energy Co. LTD. He has co-authored 60 journal papers, and applied over50 patents with 20 authorized ones. His interest is the research and development of new materials, especially graphene and other carbon materials for energy and composite applications.
Due to the great potential of graphene market, a practical scalable preparation method of high quality graphene is urgently needed. This presentation will review the innovative graphene fabricating methods, including bottom-up and top-down approaches. In addition to bottom-up synthesis of graphene quantum dots and nanoribbons, large scale bottom-up synthesis of graphene from small moleculars or polymers will be emphasized. For the top-down strategy, although oxidation-reduction approaches (Hummers, Brodie and Staudenmair) have been intensively studied, facile and green approaches will be highlighted including direct liquid exfoliation, electrochemical exfoliation, ball milling, supercritical fluid, arc-discharge etc. The advantages and disadvantages of different approaches, as well as the technological trend will be discussed.
CGIA supports members to focus on application and industry chain, to keep pace with market development, to guarantee industry interests by involving in policy making and establishing standards, and to build long-term cooperation with up-down stream enterprises all over the world.
