Feiyu Kang, male,born in 1962, is a professor at the School of Materials Science, Tsinghua University. He has obtained bachelor's and master's degrees from Tsinghua University and a doctorate from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.Since 2010, he has been working as a leader in the “Energy and Environmental Materials Innovation Team” introduced in Guangdong Province. In 2013, he served as the chief expert of the National Nano Research Major Project; in 2015, he served as the director of the National Local Co-construction Carbon Functional Materials Engineering Laboratory (Shenzhen). In 2016, he was selected as the"Guangdong Special Support Program" outstanding talent. In 2017, he was selected as a member of the China Micro-Nano Society. He is an expert enjoying special allowances from the State Council. Mainly engaged in the preparation,characterization and application of new carbon materials, especially graphite,graphene and its applications in lithium-ion batteries and other energy storage devices. He won the second prize of the 2017 National Invention and the first prize of the 2006 China Building Materials Technology Invention. At present, it has 141 Chinese invention patents and 17 foreign patents in the United States.It has published 477 SCI papers in domestic and foreign academic journals, and he cited 10238 times.

Professor FeiyuKang is mainly engaged in the research of new carbon materials and energy and environmental materials, including graphite intercalation compounds, graphite deep processing technology, preparation of porous carbon materials, air purification technology, energy storage materials and devices, lithium ion batteries, super capacitors, electric vehicles, Low carbon technology, etc. The research project “High-performance Lithium-ion Battery Graphite and Graphene Materials” won the second prize of the National Technology Invention Award by the team of Professor Feiyu Kang and the team of Professor Quanhong Yang of Tianjin University. The results optimize the charge and discharge rate, cycle and high and low temperature performance of lithium-ion power batteries,greatly improve the deep processing technology and utilization level of natural graphite resources in China, and make lithium-ion batteries "good quality and low price", making new energy vehicles enter the public life. To improve the international competitiveness of China's lithium-ion battery industry.

Based on Professor Feiyu Kang's outstanding contribution in the field of graphene and its influence in the global graphene industry, the 2018 International Graphene Innovation Conference Organizing Committee invited him to make a presentation and share with his graphene related experiences. Professor Feiyu Kang also hopes that with the platform of the conference, he can actively exchange and cooperate with more domestic and foreign institutions to contribute to the development of graphene industry in China and the world.
